David and Karen Vince
12882 Oakland Hills Court
The Yard of the Month Committee congratulates David and Karen Vince of 12882 Oakland Hills Court on being winners of our October 2024 Yard of the Month.
Dave and Karen moved to HHCCE in 1996 and have been wonderful neighbors for 28 years. Originally from Pennsylvania, they were married in PA where they had two beautiful daughters before moving to Jacksonville. One of their daughters lives in Brooklyn, NY and is a career woman with 2 dogs. Their other daughter lives here in Jax with her 2 daughters and their 2 dogs. Both David and Karen love spending quality time with their grandchildren.
Before retiring, David worked as a credit manager. He loves to golf and enjoys doing yard work. Karen worked as a substitute schoolteacher and was employed with the state. She loves walking, swimming, bible study, and volunteer work at church. Karen cooks but says she is a “terrible” baker (lol).
Dave is the Master of the Yard work. Karen helps with the weeding. As you stroll by you will see fuchsia colored crape myrtles and Firecrackers that provide color as we head into the fall season. The impatiens, border grass, shrubs and hedges, and the fountain provide a soothing and relaxing atmosphere and lend support to the beautiful reflection of the season.
If you stop by to say hello, you may find David whizzing by on his golf cart on the way to a game on the course, and Karen is a BLUR as she power walks her way through the neighborhood!
Terry and Shawn Hull
12467 Turnberry Drive
Congratulations to Terry and Shawn Hull of 12467 Turnberry Drive. They are one of our two October Yard of the Month winners.
In June 2007, the Hulls moved into Hidden Hills Country Club Estates from the Mandarin area.
Shawn has been a competitive tennis player and is also a serious runner. You may have spotted her in our neighborhood running with her two dogs.
Terry and Shawn both love pickleball and, with the help of Coach Will, organized a pickleball tournament for their family and friends.
The Hulls have three very successful grown children and are enjoying life even more now with their three grandchildren, ages nine, six and four. Their youngest son, Peyton, is an orthopedic surgeon in his second year of residency in Baylor, in Texas.
The Hulls credit each other with keeping up with the front yard - with the help of a very dependable yard service. In 2008, they planted a River Birch Tree in memory of Shawn's brother. It is now huge and beautiful, and the neighbors love the shade it provides. For color, they enjoy their sunshine ligustrums and miniature morning glories.
As you play the first hole of the golf course, take a quick peek at this gem of a house and the gorgeous pool and paver patio out back. WOW!
